Disconnection Portraits
These sculptural installations, under the title Disconnection Portraits, reflect my continuous attempts to deal with a chronic sense of dislocation and disconnection from my birth place and its culture; this is a sense that becomes increasingly evident every time I try to re-connect with it, and ultimately I find myself in a form of cultural exile from native country. These early efforts speak of separation, breaks and fractures, distances, dislocation and displacement, desires to understand, and desperate attempts to connect, which eventually led to a portrait of my disconnection. In essence, these concepts are found in more recent work - my ongoing Hunting Towers series.
